McGEACHY, James (Jim)
On June 26, 1998, Mr. James (Jim) McGeachy passed away suddenly in the Royal Alexandra Hospital at the age of 71.
He leaves to mourn his loss his children, Duncan (Jane) McGeachy of Edmonton, Sandy Erickson of Ardrossan, Donald McGeachy of St. Albert, Heather (Mark) Robinson of Calgary, Malcolm (Andrea) McGeachy of Brockville, Ontario and Burce McGeachy of Calgary. He will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Wendy Erickson of Sherwood Park, Mike (Tobey) Morris of Edmonton, Michelle Morris of Edmonton, Alanna, Shannon and Laurel Robinson of Calgary; his brother, Bill (Elsie) McGeachy of Rimbey, Alberta; sister, Flora Dewar of Vancouver, B.C. and Margaret Proudfoot of Rimbey, Alberta. He will be dearly missed by his brother-in-law, and friend, John Harrold of Namao; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice in 1991; four brothers and three sisters.
Jim was born in Campbelltown, Scotland and emigrated to Canada when he was a baby. The McGeachy family farmed on the shores of Gull Lake for many years. He loved to play baseball in his earlier years. Jim had a wonderful voice and was very keen on a musical career, but decided to try a variety of jobs before settling in Fort Saskatchewan. He worked at Sherritt Gordon for over 30 years. He was well liked by co-workers and friends and always had a great tale to tell. Jim was a man of many talents, but chief among them was working with his hands, especially woodworking. He coached minor hockey and played in the old-timers league for many years.
Let the sun rise and the river flow,
Let the moon rise and the night glow.
Let a soft breeze blow
To carry our love forever.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.m. Friday, July 3 at the First United Church, 10409-100 Avenue, Fort Saskatchewan. The Reverent Al McNeil officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. Riverview Funeral Services of Fort Saskatchewan in care of arrangements. Gordon Kadatz & Lorraine Haglund Directors. 998-9898
