  	Gippsland Times (Vic. : 1861 - 1954) Thursday 5 October 1922 Wedding. BIRKLEY - MATHIESON. The marriage of Miss Flora Mathieson, daughter of Mr. A. Mathieson, of "Inverclyde," M'Cole-street, Sale, to Mr. William Birkley, son of Mr. J. W. Birkley, of "Staplegrove Park," Flynn, was celebrated yesterday afternoon in the Sale Presbyterian Church. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride with arum lilies and pink heather, forming a large arch over the bridal pair. The Rev. W. D. Marshall, M.A., officiated. "The Wedding March" was played by Mr. Norman Macdonald, and during the signing of the register a solo was rendered by Mr. Howard King, of Melbourne. The bride looked most becoming in a dainty frock of ivory satin charmeuse and georgette, trimmed with seed pearls, and a similar girdle encircled her waist. The veil was held in place by a quaint band of silver leaves, which was last worn by Mrs. A. Mathieson, of Fulham. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a 5- diamond ring, set in platinum, and constituted the only jewellery worn. The two sisters of the bride-Misses Vera and Marian Mathieson-acted as bridesmaids. The first bridesmaid wore a dainty frock of early Victorian design, of saxe blue taffeta shot with silver. The skirt consisted of numerous overlapping petals. The second bridesmaid wore a pale pink taffeta shot with silver, and beautifully finished with French silver brocade. Both were crowned with dainty silver mobcaps, decorated with French hand-made flowers, and wearing shoes to match. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaids were gold Nellie Stewart bangles. The best man was Mr. Ernest Lawrence Rose, and Mr. Harry Birkley, brother of the bridegroom, acted as groomsman. The wedding breakfast, which was nicely decorated, was served at the Criterion Hotel. The bride's mother was tastefully gowned in black satin charmeuse, and floral georgette, trimmed with jet beads. She wore a hat of, black satin, trimmed with gold tissue. The bride left in a smart nigger brown frock, relieved with trimming of Oriental silk and beads. The young people terminated the day with a very enjoyable dance at the home of the bride's mother
