PETER MATHIESON IT is with deep regret we record the death of a former resident of Cobden in Mr Peter Mathieson, aged, 60 years. Born at Nullawarre, he was the youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Mathieson, and he resided in the district the whole of his life, leaving Cobden 18 years ago to take up farming pursuits at Drumborg, near Heywood. Nineteen years ago he married Miss May Nicol, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Nicol, of Cobden, and his wife predeceased him by 2 years. There is one child, Neil. Mr Mathieson was very well known and highly respected by everyone throughout the district, taking an active interest in the town and was an ardent supporter of the Cobden Presbyterian Church during his residence here. To his son and relatives the sympathy of every one is extended. Mr Mathieson's health had been indifferent during the past six months and he passed away at his nephew's residence at Surrey Hills. The funeral took place to the Cobden cemetery on March 9, following a service at the Presbyterian Church. Rev. H. Ford officiated at the service and at the graveside. The funeral, which was largely attended, was representative of the whole district, including Nullawarre. Coffin bearers were Messrs C. Rankin, G. Woods, N. Bremner, P. Croft, P. Nicol, J. Mathieson. Supporters of the pall were Messrs S. Nicol, J. Woods, J. Mathieson and A. Mathieson (brothers), A. J. Mathieson (nephew), P. LeCouteuir, M. Casey, Jos. Pilkington
