- Clifford A. Sorenson, 62, died Sunday, May 24, 1987, at the Brookings Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Brookings, with the Rev. Leonard Haggin officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, and military graveside rites will be conducted by George Dokken VFW Post No. 2118. Visitations may be made until 9 pm Tuesday at the Eidness Funeral home in Brookings; the family will be present from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitations also may be made at the church preceding services on Wednesday.
Clifford Arnold Sorenson was born Jan. 9, 1925, at Aurora to Chris and Florence (Shuff) Sorenson. he graduated from Aurora High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Princeton in the South Pacific. He was discharged in June 1946. On Dec. 12, 1948, he married Lois Headrick at Flandreau. he was employed at Eugene Beckman & Sons Implement from 1949 until 1986. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; the Elks, B.P.O.E. 1490; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a director of the South Dakota State Horseshoe Association and was inducted into the South Dakota Horseshoe Association Hall of Fame in 1984. he was inducted into the Brookings Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Brookings; two daughters, Mrs. Diane (William) Jensen and Mrs Donna (Richard) Rudebusch, both of Brookings; three grandchildren; two brothers, Earl of Arlington and Harold of De Smet; and three sisters, Mrs. Inez (Leonard) Caswell of Edinburg, Texas, Mrs. Margaret (Donald) Ahern of Mesa, Arizona, and Mrs Alyce (LeRoy) Smith of Hardin, Mont. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles.
